i. I am watching Rumsfeld's goodbye ceremony on CNN. I haven't felt this bubbly and inexplicably happy in months. *giggles* Six years of terror have come to an end. Did you know he's served the second-longest as Secretary of Defense? I know. Of
all people to make the top ten, it had to be him. I'll be politically correct here and say he had good intentions. I'm not the type of liberal to say "they're all satanists, it's a conspiracy of malicious, devil-worshipping men!" Nah. No dice. He certainly had good intentions.
Then again, so does the road to hell.
ii. Kofi Annan is no longer the head of the U.N. *weeps* He didn't get as much accomplished as he set out, but he had a lot of cock blocks along the way. And he lead with poise and conviction. I really liked him. And now the United Nations is headed by
China. Of course, I <3 me some asians. And I haven't any beef with the Chinese as a people. (Actually, I fangirl them quite a bit. *blushes*) But the Chinese diplomats have directly prevented further help and aid reaching Sudan. China and Russia are on the security council, you see. Along with us and the U.K. (and a couple others), naturally. And so many terrific drafts have been proposed that would make
huge progress in ending the genocide and getting aid to the African Union and refugees. And every.single.time. China and Russia have used their powers on the security council to block the drafts from being realized. They give some shit reasons about diction in certain articles and have once even claimed the U.N. is stretched too thin. The real reason is because they have oil and arms profits coming from that region specifically, and without those deals their military budgets would have to shrink. (Mind you, half of these profits are obtained illegally via the black market.) So... naturally, I'm skeptical (<-- euphimism) about this shift in U.N. leadership. But I have hope that they'll come around. Soon. And if they don't, I have hope that the rest of the U.N. will do what's right anyway.

iii. Yesterday was my last day of semester! I've got a full month off... which I'm sure will pass much too quickly. My official grades won't be released until next week, but our teachers usually let us know the last day of class. Except my history teacher, since our research paper wasn't even due until the last day. *bites nails* I had a 95% in history (Ancient Civ.) before the paper and the final... and those two grades combined = 50% of my final grade, so it's a total toss-up. I'm going to go mad wondering if I pulled the A. *diiiies* But I know the others! :)
English 2810: 99%
Sociology: 104%
English 2140: 100%
Botany: 86%
Ancient Civilizations: ?!?!!!!?SPAZ
Lol, Botany sort of sticks out like a sore thumb, huh? *Angsts* That class
killed me. I studied so hard for some of the tests I quite literally became physically ill. I'll spare you the graphic details, but suffice it to say I was hugging toilets a lot this semester. And even with days and days of studying I still barely managed mid-70%'s on the tests. And then I got that 66% recently. UGH. I fail at science. FAIL. But I got a 92% on my Botany final (don't ask me how)! And you know... I'm totally hoping she curves. *shifty eyes* Last semester, one of my friends had her for the exact same class, and she curved everyone's final grades by 13% because 3/4 of the class had failing marks, and the other 1/4 had only C's. (Goes to show how fucking insane and impossible she is!) She told us two days ago she would consider curving for us, too, but "don't bank on it." If she curves even by 4% I will have ultimate victory.
That's quite enough ranting for now. *smiles shyly* But I'll post the grades to that friend meme here, as well:
( grades! )<3!
